Claire Weetman

Claire Weetman is an artist who makes drawings, prints, installations and public interventions that visualise how we navigate through spaces, connect with others and observe the traces of things that are difficult to see.

Since 2005 Claire has developed projects where she lives in St Helens, including co-founding Platform Studios and, since 2016, developing projects with people who live in the town who are seeking asylum. Much of her work involves creating with others, whether that is an existing group, an education setting or an interaction with people in a public space. Residencies in Shanghai, Istanbul, Linz and Stuttgart have provided time and space to develop her practice, with works being supported by The Bluecoat, Castlefield Gallery, Airspace Gallery, The Harris, METAL and Arts Council England.

Claire is currently collaborating with three St Helens-based arts organisations; Cultured, where she is working with schools on projects connected to kindness; St Helens Libraries Cultural Hubs, where she is the lead artist for Artists Together; and Heart of Glass with Refugee Women Connect.
