Aaron Sunderland Carey

Aaron Sunderland Carey is a Dublin-based mixed media and multidisciplinary artist specializing in socially engaged art. With a strong focus on community collaboration, Carey’s practice explores themes of identity, masculinity, and social change through storytelling, workshops, and immersive projects.

A graduate of NCAD with an MA in Art and Social Action, Carey has led and took part in numerous long-term engagement projects across Dublin. His work with initiatives such as What Does He Need? demonstrates a deep commitment to fostering dialogue and amplifying community voices.
In 2025, Carey presented Nach Cuma? at The LAB Gallery, Dublin, a major exhibition exploring themes of care, community, hate, and addiction. Grounded in lived experience and collective storytelling, his work explores how systems of neglect and support shape individual and communal identities, inviting audiences to reflect on empathy, responsibility, and social healing.
Carey has exhibited work at NCAD Gallery, Outset Gallery, and Axis Arts Centre, among others. His practice continues to evolve challenging dominant narratives and seeking to reimagine how art can function as a tool for connection, care, and social change.
