Street Hunt

Back to News

In light of the temporary closure of Heart of Glass due to the COVID-19 situation, please read more here, we have decided to postpone Street Hunt until further notice. Please contact us if you have pre-ordered a Street Hunt book and require a refund. If you have booked any other events and require a refund, or have any questions relating to the above, or our future programming, please email info@heartofglass.org.uk

Current Total Prize Money: £1000

Street Hunt is a kind of visual crossword puzzle, a treasure hunt where the riches are road names, a story emerging from the page and your chance to win up to £6,000.

A poem has been written with words from St Helens road names. A book of photographs shows the street signs and their surroundings but with the names removed. You have to work out what the streets are using the emerging story of the poem to help you.

The first person to submit a correctly completed book with all the right answers wins. The more people that play the game and join Street Hunt, the bigger the prize! There’s a guaranteed minimum prize of £1,000 and a maximum of £6,000 if all the books are sold.

Street Hunt is about St Helens and the wonders of its street names.

It is about getting out into the streets, travelling around the borough and talking to people. Pre-order your book now, and start your Street Hunt on 4th April 2020!

I Heart Thursdays with Joshua Sofaer

Join us on Thursday 2nd April, 6.30-8.30pm to hear Joshua Sofaer, the artist behind Street Hunt, chatting to Kitty O Shea about Street Hunt and how you can get involved. Free tickets available soon!

Joshua Sofaer is the artist behind Street Hunt. He makes art events, performances and exhibitions that often involve the participation of members of the public. He is interested in the way the ordinary and the overlooked can be visually spectacular. He believes that art can allow people to see the world as a place of potentiality and to become more active citizens.

Street Hunt by Joshua Sofaer, produced in St Helens by Heart of Glass, was originally commissioned by Norfolk and Norwich Festival.
