Workshops hailed a success by artists

Back to News

The latest professional development workshop was again fully subscribed as Chrissie Tiller worked with St Helens artists.

Hot on the heels of a visit from Dr Susanne Bosch, Chrissie held a one day workshop at Langtree Park that explored alternative styles of leadership and facilitation, working in teams, and cross-disciplinary collaborations.

At the core of the Heart of Glass programme is the support and development of artist’s practise in St Helens. Part of this support is delivered through a series of Continuing Professional Development workshops run by leading professionals from across varying practices in the sector for arts professionals and artists living in St Helens.

The workshops are set within the specific context of the Heart of Glass programme. Tuesday’s event touched on the role of the participatory artist in supporting wider access to arts and culture in places of least engagement.

Chrissie Tiller, creative facilitator, writer and teacher, explained: “It was a pleasure to work with such a great group of artists in St Helens and I hope the workshop has a lasting affect. I was thrilled as a granddaughter of a glassblower and daughter of Rugby fan to be working in St Helens.”

The programme will run throughout the year covering a range of topics from what does it mean to work collaboratively, how to reach new audiences, how to evaluate and reflect on your work, how to raise funds and talks by visiting artists from a number of practices.

We will also be developing networking opportunities and inviting local, national and international thinkers and doers to share provocations with us designed to challenge and inspire over the course of the programme.  If you are interested in talking to us about professional development opportunities please e-mail info@heartoflgass.org.uk
