Workshops engages community in Your Name Here project

Back to News

People in St Helens have been nominating their everyday role models to have a park named after them.

Artist Jeni McConnell has been delivering a mix of workshops and pop-up sessions to engage and interact with the public, encouraging them to be playful and creative with their nominations.

There have been library sessions for children and families, as well as the general public. Jeni has also visited the park that will be renamed after the winner and talked to passers by. Jeni has also worked with two adult social care/health groups in St Helens.

Jeni said: “It’s been a great project to be engaged with and I’ve been privileged to hear some really lovely stories about the people who are being nominated.

“There have been names of people who are publicly well known alongside names of people who are known by only a few, yet have made an impression with their dedication, kindness and other attributes which just warm your heart.”

Jeni is hosting a Your Name Here session with Snappy Encounters this Friday (June 19th).
