For the last three years, Patrick has been the Director of Create, Ireland’s national development agency for collaborative practice, prior to his position in Ireland, Patrick spent 10 years in Merseyside, leading a variety of projects and programmes across various sectors, most notably Health, Education and Housing to deliver exciting collaborations between artists and communities.
Chair of the Project Steering Group, Gordon Pennington, said: “The project team is delighted to announce Patrick’s appointment as Director. His broad ranging skillset, especially in the areas of contemporary collaborative practice, community engagement and partnership working, as well as his extensive and diverse experience of arts and civic participation will be a marvelous asset in driving the ambitious Heart of Glass project forward. The project team and our varied partners look forward to working closely with Patrick.”
Of his appointment as Director, Patrick says: “I am passionate about the role of the arts in civil society and I believe firmly in the power of cultural engagement to support civic participation. My new role affords me a wonderful opportunity to support artists, arts organisations and community partners to develop a unique and distinctive arts programme that will engage communities in rich and diverse cultural opportunities. I am also particularly excited to be working in St. Helens, a place full of history and vibrant communities – I look forward to getting started.”
