A group of 25 local female participants are working behind the scenes on St Helens very own haunted walks.
The Haunted Furnace shows will take over the underground tunnels of the original Pilkington’s glass factory and the shows will be a result of three months of workshops, training and creation.
Performers and makers are currently attending workshops to bring together the shows in The Hotties Furnace of The World of Glass Museum.
Production is now in full swing with a team of 25 talented and creative young women from the borough. Within the group a talented cast of 17 performers are working in collaboration with an art department consisting of eight artistic individuals, who are responsible for the costume, make-up and set elements of the show.
The group vary in their production experiences, some already studying theatre and make-up, others who are eager to learn more. Director Marisa Carnesky and Associate Producer Victoria Edgerton, have been working with the group to devise wonderful and re-imagined stories based on the history of the World of Glass Furnace.
Caroline Smith, of Heart of Glass, said: “Everyone involved has contributed to the writing process and vision of Haunted Furnace, whilst the performers rehearse the art department are working hard to create the costumes and props needed for each character.”
The Haunted Furnace at The World of Glass Museum will be awoken on Friday & Saturday, October 23rd & 24th and Friday & Saturday, October 30th & 31st as part of #takeoverStHelens.
