Family Art Club breaks new barrier

St Helens Family Art Club welcomed its 2,000th participant on Saturday (May 16th).

The free to attend drop in art workshops in St Mary’s Market are funded by Heart of Glass and sees artists work with local families on a variety of themes.

The sessions take place every first and third Saturday 12-4pm in St Mary’s Arcade. The next club takes place on June 6th themed around the industry of St Helens.

Artists Mikyla Durkan and Julian Bond have created a drama workshop with performances inspired by coal mining and industrial machinery. The following day (Sunday, June 7th) the family art club joins force with the Westfield Street Music Festival. The Citadel Theatre will become a family hub for the afternoon with DJ, guitar, and singing workshops all free to training to attend.
