ReachOut is a series of short documentaries about mental health where the voices of people with experience of accessing mental health support feature at all stages of the production process.
The Liverpool Mental Health Consortium, which closed its doors in April 2019 after 24 years of representing the service user experience, and Iron Lung CIC, a community film company, teamed up in August 2018 to begin the film project. This piece of work began at a vibrant time for the organisation.
The Lunatic Fringe Project collected the views and opinions of thousands of Liverpudlians at several dozen separate events in 2018-19. The films capture much of this energy and insight in addition to acknowledging the frustration resulting from a lack of funding to continue the invaluable work of the Consortium.
The ReachOut films will be introduced by members of the project followed by a Q&A . After a break for tea at the Care Cafe we will reconvene for an creative sharing, songs, poems, stories etc. all contributions gratefully received.
