More than 90 participants turned out to help make a 10-foot-high Christmas tree from balloons on Saturday (December 3rd).

Children and adults from across St Helens joined artists at the regular St Helens Family Art Club workshop in St Mary’s Market. Together they created two superb balloon tree that have caught the imagination of shoppers and caused a stir on social media.

Artists Claire Weetman and Michelle Wren lead the session that was inspired by the forthcoming Kids’ Rave.

The artists and volunteers helped families to twist balloons together and be creative with freestyle balloon sculptures. The Mayor of St Helens, Cllr David Bank, also got involved with participants at the drop in workshop.

The 10-foot balloon tree will stay in St Mary’s Market with the six-foot tree entering the town’s Christmas tree competition in St Helens Parish Church in Church Square. Participants also made balloon baubles with smaller balloons to take home.

Thank you to all the artists, volunteers and participants who have taken part in St Helens Family Art Club workshop in 2016.

Kids’ Rave takes place on Saturday, December 17th, from 10am – 1pm and costs £3 per person. Scottee returns to St Helens to present the second morning rave for Under 8s at The Citadel.  For tickets call 01744 735436 or book online at citadel.org.uk
